Our mission

A unique venture between the European Commission and the Japanese Government, the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is a core non-profit organisation aimed at improving EU and Japanese companies’ competitiveness and cooperation by facilitating exchanges of experience and know-how between EU and Japanese businesses.

The EU-Japan Centre is committed to developing its activities to follow as closely as possible the priorities of the Japanese and EU Authorities and the needs of industry.

For 2009, these priorities include issues relating to:

Climate change, environment and energy
Foreign Direct Investments
Industrial policy
The role of Japan in broader Asia
Promotion of SMEs
Innovation policy:
- Challenge Towards World Class Manufacturing
- International Cluster Cooperation

About us

Since its establishment in 1987, the Centre and its activities have been funded by the Directorate-General for Enterprise & Industry (European Commission) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) as well as by contributions from private corporations.

The EU-Japan Centre promotes industrial cooperation between EU and Japanese companies through:

managerial training programmes
student in-company traineeships (Vulcanus)
seminars (EU Policy Seminars, Intercultural Management Workshops, Other Seminars/Conferences)
business information services
EU-Japan Business Round Table
environment and energy programmes

The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is the effective bridge between European and Japanese business people.
